Nawal Reading · Maya Cholq’ij

Understand your birth energy—and your relationship with it.

In the Maya Cholq’ij, every day carries a particular energy. The energy of the day on which you were born is your nawal.

A Nawal Reading explores its potential, challenges, and responsibilities—and how it is already taking form through your life. It helps you recognize what you carry and express it with greater awareness, balance, and purpose.

From identity to relationship

Your nawal is not a label to claim. It is a relationship to cultivate.

A Nawal Reading is not a horoscope, a prediction, or a prefabricated identity. It offers something more demanding than a flattering description.

Your nawal is the energy with which you entered this life. The reading explores how that energy moves through your potential, challenges, patterns, choices, and responsibilities—where it flows, where it has fallen out of balance, and what it asks you to understand and cultivate.

The Kajb’al

A map of the energies that hold a life.

The Kajb’al is often called the Maya Cross. That name comes through colonial interpretation and flattens what is more accurately understood in three dimensions: a pyramid formed by nine related energies.

A first Nawal Reading focuses on the five energies at the heart of this structure. Four form the base of the pyramid. Your birth nawal is its vertex: the point toward which the structure is organized and through which its possibilities seek expression.

The four energies at the base speak of origin and destiny, and of the feminine and masculine currents through which your life takes form. They correspond to four paths, four elements, and four directions.

The reading explores how this foundation supports and shapes the expression of your birth nawal: its potential, challenges, responsibilities, vocation, recurring patterns, and balance. It also places these energies within larger movements of time—the energy of the year and moon into which you were born, and the greater cycles through which your life unfolds.

The Reading

Prepared before we meet.
Read in relationship.

I prepare the map before our session. The reading itself emerges in conversation with your life, your history, your questions, and what your heart is calling you to explore.

The Kajb’al offers orientation. Your experience provides the ground. Meaning emerges in the relationship between them.

Before we meet

You share your date, place, and—when available—time of birth. I study the energies, prepare the Kajb’al, and consider the larger cycles into which you were born.

During the reading

We begin with a brief meditation. I introduce the map, and together we follow the questions, memories, and recognitions it opens.

The reading is intuitive and responds to the interaction between our nawales. It is an inquiry—not a prefabricated interpretation or a scheme placed over your life.

After the reading

You receive a private recording of our 90-minute session and a personalized written summary of approximately five pages, so you can return to the reading as its meaning continues to unfold.

Lineage & Responsibility

The calendar is studied.
The relationship is lived.

The Cholq’ij has mathematics, measures, and correspondences that must be learned with precision. A reading also depends on sustained observation: seeing how the energies move through days, ceremonies, choices, relationships, and actual lives.

I offer these readings as an Ajq’ij initiated under the guidance of Nan Faviana Cochoy Alva and Tat Pedro Yac Noj. My formation continues through keeping the count of the days, tending ceremonial fire, learning from my teachers, and accompanying people in conversation with their energies.

Being an Ajq’ij does not give me authority over your life. It gives me a responsibility: to approach what you bring with truth, transparency, respect, and compassion; to speak carefully; and to honor the limits of what has been entrusted to me.

Good to Know

Do I need to know my exact time of birth?

It is helpful, but not essential. We can still prepare and explore your Kajb’al without it.

Do I need to be Maya or follow the Maya tradition?

No. Every person was born on a particular day and has a relationship with its energy. The reading does not require you to adopt a belief system or spiritual identity.

Can I bring a question?

Your life, history, and present questions are part of the reading. The Kajb’al may help illuminate recurring situations, vocational questions, relationships, choices, and places where an energy has fallen out of balance.

It is not used to predict the outcome of a specific decision. If you are seeking guidance about one immediate question, a private session or fire ceremony may be more appropriate.

How should I prepare?

Join from a quiet, private place and have water nearby. You do not need to take notes; the session will be recorded so you can remain present for the conversation.

Can I purchase a reading for someone else?

A Nawal Reading begins with the person’s own decision to enter the inquiry. For that reason, readings are not offered as gifts.
